Wind + structural calculations for a South Carolina permit under the SC Building Code (IBC) with ASCE 7

South Carolina is going from a handful of courts to more than two dozen in a year; coastal Charleston sites carry hurricane-level design winds.

Constructability & RFIs

From the calc to the concrete

The engineering does not end at the seal. On The Breakers, the court footings had to share the edge with a trench drain, paver bands, and irrigation, and the contractor's questions came to us. We answer RFIs during construction: footing depth and reinforcement at drain crossings, anchor embedment and edge distance, post base plate leveling, glass clamp tolerance, and what to do when the field does not match the drawing.

A court that is engineered on paper and then improvised in the ground is not the court that was permitted. We stay on the project until the footings are poured.

Ask about construction support
Perimeter footing formwork with rebar cage next to a trench drain at a padel court
Perimeter footing reinforcement beside a trench drain.
Continuous reinforced footing for a padel court wall before the concrete pour
Continuous footing under the glass wall line, before the pour.

Related HVHZ work

The same wind engineering, different structures

Through WindCalculations.com we have delivered HVHZ and coastal wind engineering for rooftop HVAC in Coral Gables (Miami-Dade HVHZ), standing-seam metal roofing at Tyndall Air Force Base, PV solar arrays in Broward County (170 mph), and rooftop mechanical installations at South Florida Baptist Hospital and Boca Raton Hospital.
